Tom & Naomi Holbeach - Banksia House, Eaglemont

'We engaged Luke to extensively renovate our home in Eaglemont. We were highly impressed with Luke’s design, attention to detail and collaboration. His design was creative, practical and to the brief, with all elements well-conceived and considered as to how they will be ‘lived in’.

The design process was enjoyable, with Luke’s enthusiasm for the design shining through, and incorporating our thoughts and feedback in ways which we would never have expected. This communication and collaboration was not hampered by the distance between Ballarat and Melbourne, with communication being one of Luke’s many strengths.

Luke was additionally better at managing to our budget than we were, highlighting areas or ideas that we had that may put that budget to risk early on in the process. During the build, he project managed with a very structured eye for detail, and worked very well with both the builder and us through the period.

Overall, we could not have asked for a better experience or outcome, and we will definitely be engaging Luke in any future projects.'

David & Emelia Ferguson - JR's Hut at Kimo Estate, Gundagai
‘Luke engaged Anthony Hunt Design & Luke Stanley Architects to design our ‘eco hut’ project at Kimo Estate in Gundagai NSW. The brief was for a hotel style accommodation in the form of an 'off the grid' hut, that was to be visually stunning, use materials similar to those found around the property and relatively easy to build. We were happy to let Anthony & Luke have free reign over the design as we believe that architects earn their money in the creative phase of the build, especially when dealing with concepts.

We believe Anthony and Luke have designed a place that is stunning, with the natural timbers, galvanised iron and rusted steel all tying in beautifully with the location. They have created an amazing space that is visually appealing and leaves our customers with a sense of place in our environment. We expect the hut to stand the test of time and have been overwhelmed with the public response it’s received.'

Peter Struck & Alison Spink - The Plinth House, Langdons Hill
‘Luke was selected to design and project manage our modest renovation (The Plinth House) in Langdons Hill near Daylesford. From day one we were impressed with his design ideas, detailed research and comprehensive understanding of the brief. He brought fresh, well considered ideas to the table that were simple, elegant solutions that we had not previously considered. It was refreshing to see well imagined and well resolved ideas, and we had total confidence in Luke's design judgement from the earliest stages. He seemed to really 'get' what we were aiming for and had an obvious strong interest and affinity with the project.

Luke developed solutions to a range of issues that fitted within our budget, were entirely respectful of the existing character, and amplified our enjoyment of the property. His advice throughout the project was spot on. He created a seamless transition from existing character to improved amenity, through his considered choice of materials, colours, fittings, finishes and scale. We asked him to design and project manage as if it were his property, and his budget and we couldn't be happier with the result.

Overall every aspect of Luke's work has enriched our enjoyment of the little "Plinth House", but most importantly he met, then exceeded our expectations and was a pleasure to work with.’

Etoile Nasrallah - Berkeley House, Heidelberg
‘Luke Stanley (in collaboration with Cameron Fry Architect) was engaged to design and project manage the contemporary extension for our 1960's brick home. As a family we had outgrown our existing home and increasingly felt frustrated at how under utilised the property was in its current layout.

From the outset Luke understood our brief, the design detail and the overall construction quality we were after. Respecting and working within our budget he sought to meet and exceed our expectations by offering cost effective, yet high impact solutions without jeopardising the quality of the project. Luke was also effective in navigating us through the building process, helping us to foresee and manage some of the more common pitfalls experienced during construction.

Through Luke’s experience and professionalism we were given the opportunity to confidently explore new architectural ideas while also learning to appreciate the historical context of our original home. The end result greatly enhanced the way in which we experienced our home reinforcing the positive influence and added value working with the right architect can make.’

Andrew & Toni - Lennox House, Northcote
‘We engaged Luke Stanley Architects to extend and renovate our home in Northcote, Melbourne. Luke’s design was truly amazing, combining both aesthetic and practical features such as recycled exposed brick, blue stone tiling, extensive custom cabinetry (including a huge amount of storage) timber cladding inside and out, plus a custom made staircase and stunning double sided fireplace as the centrepiece.

Luke’s professionalism was exceptional and attention to detail impressive. He always listened to our suggestions or concerns and adjusted the plans accordingly; we feel his expert design skills and vision achieved the beauty and functionality we wanted for our family home, incorporating lots of natural materials and handcrafted elements. Luke was also integral to the house's interior design, including selection of colours, lighting, fixtures and fittings, not to mention the custom designed timber cupboard handles (among many, many other things).

Most importantly, Luke and our builder got on very well ensuring a smooth construction process and making a potentially very stressful time generally stress free. We are delighted with the end result and would have been lost without him to guide us through the complex process.'
